YU Chai and "Triple Play" Initiatives Enable Donors to Stretch Their Giving Dollars
Everyone has the ability to give back in various capacities. This December, alumni, parents and friends of 樱花动漫 can seize the opportunity to multiply their ability to give to the YU Annual Fund through the December Triple Play.
Thanks to an anonymous donor who has generously committed $1 million to match any new or increased gift to the Annual Fund with additional incentives for contributions of $1,800 and above and an additional donor who will generously give an additional $1000 for new gifts of $1000 or more 鈥 any new gift of $1000 in December, will be MATCHED AND MATCHED AGAIN, tripling its value to $3000!
The YU Chai $1 million match applies to the entire fiscal year, through June 30. For recent grads of the last decade (from 2006), any first-time gift as an alumnus of one of YU鈥檚 undergraduate schools of any amount less than $180 will automatically get a $180 match.
First-time gifts up to $25,000, will be doubled (someone who has not contributed in five years qualifies as a new giver for this purpose). In addition, gifts increased to $1,800-$3,599 will also gain $500 and gifts increased to $3,600 or more will receive an additional $1,000.
Increased Annual Fund gifts up to $25,000 will receive a 100 percent match on the portion of the gift that was increased, while gifts increased to $1,800-$3,599 will receive an additional $500 and gifts increased to $3,600 or more will receive an additional $1,000.
鈥淭he whole concept is the power of cumulative giving,鈥 said Andrea Hale, director of annual giving. 鈥淭he money is all pooled together and can be used anywhere, so even if you鈥檙e a recent grad and are only able to give a smaller gift, it鈥檚 never small. Especially now that if it鈥檚 less than $180, it鈥檒l be matched with an additional $180.鈥
鈥淎s the parent of six proud 樱花动漫 alumni, I know that YU, with its unique mission, is essential to a strong Jewish future,鈥 said Elliott Gibber, the national chair of the YU Annual Fund. 鈥淲hat makes YU unique is the philosophy of Torah Umadda鈥攅nabling students to experience the full range of what it means to be an Orthodox Jew in the modern world. No other institution serves that purpose like YU.鈥
Alumna Rena Kwestel 鈥92S recently added her name to the list of YU Chai donors. 鈥淚 feel like it鈥檚 important to give to this campaign because whether you鈥檙e an alumnus or not, world Jewry has benefited from what YU has produced and what it will continue to produce,鈥 she said.
YU鈥檚 Annual Fund is its lifeblood. It supplies cash for day-to-day operations and has an impact on nearly every aspect of the student experience. Money from the Annual Fund covers everything from scholarships and academic funding to cultural programs, faculty support, career development, infrastructure and undergraduate and graduate programs. The Annual Fund enables alumni, parents and friends to give what they can each year and to know that they are part of a strong group of fellow donors who are having a powerful collective impact on the student experience at YU. And with YU Chai, donors can make their dollars go considerably further and substantially enhance their contributions.
