Scholarships are YU鈥檚 top priority. Our success starts with attracting the best students. Support for aid, which allows so many promising students to attend YU, is the most fundamental way to invest in our success鈥攁nd theirs.
We promise that no qualified student will be turned away for financial reasons and disburse more than $46 million a year in undergraduate scholarships and $41 million in graduate scholarships to keep that promise. While increasing, philanthropic gifts still only cover 25 percent of this financial aid. With growing support, our students can achieve their potential鈥攁nd change our world.

In-Kind Gifts
In-kind gifts are non-cash gifts to the University, such as books, artwork, historical documents, equipment or property. Since the taxes for in-kind gifts vary significantly depending on the nature of the gift, please consult your tax adviser when considering such a contribution.
Real Estate
If you anticipate selling your house, remember that an outright gift of your residence will entitle you to a charitable income-tax deduction equal to its entire appraised or fair market value. If you do not anticipate relocating, you may find that a gift of your house with a "retained life estate" is even more attractive.
Stocks & Bonds
If you already intend to sell appreciated stock, you may save money by gifting this stock to YU instead of contributing cash. While the gift of stock will, like a gift of cash, entitle you to a charitable income tax deduction, it will also enable you to avoid the capital-gains tax you would owe if you had sold the stock yourself. 鈥淲ith the increase in anti-Semitism around the world, I realized the imperative of making sure there is never again another Holocaust,鈥 says Emil Fish. 鈥淪o I asked: How can we be active in its prevention?鈥
The question led Fish to establish the Emil A. and Jenny Fish Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, a center to train educators in the field of Holocaust and genocide studies and to provide programming to combat contemporary prejudices and hateful ideologies.
